@Jack Thomas: Take a look at comment #2. That'll do it. :-)

@John: I'm not familiar with Checky. In the mean time you can validate with Web Developer toolbar and inside Firefox with HTML Validator. I use these on a daily basis.

Hi Casper,

Hadn't reported yet but will do so.

The one extension I really miss is Checky (the validator).

Regarding Furl

Well,
I guess I like it; but one of the things I liked best with the previous software was using Furl and the icons. The icons have disappeared, I can't seem to get them back, and my Extensions function shows that Furl is incompatible with FF1.5.

Am I just being dumb here, or is there a work-around, or will I just have to wait?

Thanks,
jack@troamail.org

Hi John,

Although Firefox looks like the culprit, it may well be the OS's fault, or hardware or rogue extension, or ... (who knows)

Personally I never use standby on a Wintel laptop as it's never worked for me. Windows never comes back up or I have trouble like you described.
On the contrary. My iBook constantly falls asleep and comes back up with Firefox running. And I never experienced a lock-up like you.

But let's assume it is Firefox's fault. A quick look at Bugzilla with: 'firefox standby' shows other people having the same trouble. Did you contribute to these bugreports already? It might help getting this fixed for you. (The more people report, the greater the urgency. :-))

Nice release but still buggy. Putting my laptop in standby mode while FF is running is a definate no-no: CPU shoots to 99% usage when I switch it back on.

@John: Well that's even sooner than anticipated. :-)

@Mark: The *hacked* Furl Tools seem to be working. Thanks. I've mailed them a while ago and they said they were working on it.

Hi,

I'd just like to mention that I have created a modified version of furltools that works with Firefox 1.5+ perfectly..

It's available here: http://www.influenced.net/articles/2005/11/29/furl-toolbar-furltools-firefox-1.5/

It's a nice stop-gap solution until they release an official version

Portable Firefox 1.5 Final will be coming out later today. Until then, you can keep using Portable Firefox 1.5 RC3 since, as you noticed... Firefox 1.5 Final and Firefox 1.5 RC3 are the same. A few final changes are being made to Portable Firefox before the 1.5 Final release. Stay tuned :-)
