FeedBurner’s Link Splicer

People viewing my feed will be relieved as of today. I will no longer use the FeedBurner ‘Link Splice’ option, which added my Furl into the main sites webfeed.

Why? I was getting fed up by the constant ‘there’s a new item’ notice in Bloglines and FeedDemon. Also, I don’t see an added value merging feeds together. 🙂

So, if you want to keep up-to-date with what’s happening at ThinkLemon and already were subscribed to the main feed. You’ll have to do NOTHING. How’s that for a change?

For those who didn’t already or want to keep the Furl. Here’s how (click on the desired link):

    Hi Caspar, if you care to try it someday, there is an option on the FeedBurner link splicer to only splice in one end-of-day summary entry each day. That way, if you create 6 furl links someday, you don’t get six feed updates over the course of the day for single links, just one end of day entry. Just mentioning it for future reference – some people love the link splicer, others find it distracting. Cheers.

    Hello Dick,

    I did have the ‘daily’ option enabled. It’s just that I Furl more than post on this weblog. So the Bloglines notifier was alerting daily when in fact nothing changed on the site perse.
    That is why I decided to clear the Furl stuff from the main feed.

    Besides that. The few people I know, who are subscribed to the main feed. are also subscribed to the Furl feed. So they get double updates.

    If visitors want to have it back, I’ll turn it on again. 🙂

    BTW: Nice to see that FeedBurner staff is watching the blogosphere.
